Wow, what a weekend and I'm exhausted. So exhausted that I'm going to write in English about Esperanto. How scary is that? :-P Maybe later I'll write in Esperanto about English (or not).
So anyway, the Esperanto center of Antwerpen asked me to come down to give a lecture on Wikipedia, so of course I accepted and they covered my travel costs (20 EUR) and my dinner. Woohoo! The lecture went incredibly smoothly... probably the best I've ever given. After Wikipedia, I had time to give a presentation about Esperanto@Interreto as well and that went smoothly too. Yay!
Then, I went back and hung out with a Belgian family and we kept switching back between English, Esperanto and Dutch (errr... should I say Flemish? hehehe) The only difference I could tell between Flemish and Dutch is that they use stappen instead loopen for walk and loopen instead of rennen for run. Ummm, ok. Very cool family... I hope to see them again the next time I visit. :-)
Today, I hung out with a couple of Esperanto speakers in Antwerpen and they showed me around the town. We went to a lebanese place and got something called kroks to eat... it was kinda like Mexican, but without spicy stuff. Then we checked out the museum of the house of the burgemeester (that kinda translates to mayor in English). It was interesting hearing the history of how the city was incredibly prosperous until it started the inquisition... oh well. I thought about
saltimbanco today when I passed by an ad for the play showing in Antwerpen in July...
Also, I saw the Matrix Reloaded with French and Dutch subtitles (gotta love Belgium!). heheh There's one line in the Matrix Reloaded that's in French, and it was hilarious watching the subtitle only pop up for Dutch. :-) I think most of the audience could understand French too, 'cause when the guy started cussing in French... woohoo! :-) I loved it, but then again, being able to understand most of the dutch subtitles probably helped... ;-)
Then I came back and wasted a few more hours of my life sitting in front of the computer when I could be reading one of the Dutch children's books I have or Stupid White Men which I bought today. Um, I think I'll go read Stupid White Men now... or should I read a Dutch children's book? Heh, you decide:
