Queens farm, Walmart Documentary

What a crazy weekend (in a good way)! First I went to the Queens County Farm Museum... it's so funny to think that NYC still has a 47 acre farm on it! It was really nice to see the animals and ride the hay ride. Did you know you could ride a hay ride in NYC for only $2? hahaha

Also, I highly recommend seeing Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price! Pretty interesting stuff. I know it's only playing this weekend in NYC and LA, but it's coming to other cities soon. I still find it a bit funny that I found out about the movie from the Million Dollar Homepage. Hahaha, guess some of that advertising really works. hehe

I'm always surprised how many people who think of themselves as enlightened progressive activists nonetheless enthusiastically shop at Walmart...

in a confessional mood
I bought something at Walmart once: two pairs of jeans.

Extenuating circumstances: I was far from home, living out of a suitcase for most of a month; if I remember right, I'd accidentally destroyed the one pair of pants I'd brought and wasn't ready to wear the same pair of shorts every day for three weeks; I didn't know the terrain and don't have powerful shopper-orienteering skills, didn't know where to go locally, don't drive, was in the boonies, hitched a ride with a companion who was going to Walmart for something. (I was, in fact, at NASK.)

Penance: I wore them until both pairs were so worn-out they absolutely were no longer decent to wear.

Woops, not quite true. They'll both be decent to wear when I patch them, and not until.

Actually no, last night I saw it's being presented this weekend in a classroom building at Brown University.

Oops. I meant the only movie theaters playing ... Sorry about that!
