playing games in Esperanto

Here are some useful words for those of you who plan to play board and card games in Esperanto circles...

ludo = game
kartludo = card game
tabulludo = board game

ĵeti = to throw
kubo = cube
ĵetkuboj = dice

ŝako = chess
damoj/damludo = checkers/draughts
reĝo = king (in chess and cards)
damo = queen (in chess and cards) and king (in checkers)
bubo = jack
aso = ace
turo = rook (literally: tower)
kuriero = bishop (literally: courier)
ĉevalo = knight (literally: horse)
peono = pawn

emblemo = suit
trefo = clubs
piko = spades
kero = hearts
karoo = diamonds

Some important phrases:

Ĉu vi volas ludi kartludon?
Do you want to play a card game?

Estas via vico.
It's your turn.

Mi venkis!
I won!

Mi malvenkis.
I lost.

Mi volas aĉeti tiun ludon, kiom kostas?
I want to buy that game, how much does it cost?

Ok, so now you should be able to survive your first encounter of playing games in Esperanto.
