meine erste Tag in Heilbronn

Vielleicht bald ich shreibe viel auf Deutsch in meinem LJ, aber jetzt ich will auf Englisch...

My first day in Heilbronn wasn't bad at all. A bit tiring though. First of all, I missed my flight in New York JFK by 10 minutes, so they would not permit me to board and charged me a penalty of $200. ugh. fI was there 50 minutes before my flight, but they said that due to security regulations, they have to close check-in exactly 60 minutes before international flights. So yeah, not a great start. Later on the plane they gave me an apple juice cup that leaked, but yes, no use crying over spilt apple juice. :)

The rest of the flight went well though and I even managed to buy some stroopwafel in the Amsterdam airport. Yay! I ended up meeting an Internet programmer from Heilbronn in the plane from New Castle, England and then we drove him back to Heilbronn with us. We got back and I filled out the visa form, took a shower and headed to a night club. It was nice dancing to a few German songs like 99 Luftballoons. Woke up with a bit of a hangover, but it wasn't too bad. Mmmm, German beer.

Also, I found out that I can get a used car here for 1500 EUR (1750 USD), so that's not bad at all. I also found a used bike that costs retail 200 EUR for only 40 EUR, so I might get that as well... but it's quite cold now, so I don't know...

Anyway, everything is going well so far and our first area of concern is health insurance, then the visa, then the apartment. After that I'll be all set up. I also just got my own PC in the office with a user account, etc. So, alles ist in Ordnung. =) I still think it's funny that my official title here is Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter. Sooo cool. heh
